RESEARCH ACTIVITIES – MECHATRONICS FOR THERMAL AND FLOW SYSTEMS
Simulation studies on thermodynamic processes (flow, heat and mass transfer, and combustion)
Designing and constructing mechatronic elements:
- fuel systems for combustion engines (turbine engines, spark-ignition and compression-ignition internal combustion engines; traditional and alternative fuels: E85, biodiesel, LPG, CNG, hydrogen)
- alternative stationary, automotive and aircraft powertrains (electric, hybrid, and fuel cells)
- flow based powertrains (turbine engines, wind turbines)
- electronic control systems (designing and developing algorithms, constructing research systems, constructing monitoring and measuring devices)
Bench testing on:
- reciprocating internal combustion engines (measuring pressure in a combustion chamber, measuring vibration)
- fuel supply systems in combustion engines
- electronic control systems
Rapid prototyping: powder and polymer based 3D printing
Reverse engineering: 3D scanning
EDUCATIONAL AND DIDACTIC ACTIVITIES
- courses on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, physics, and electronic control systems
- specialisations on offer: Construction and Maintenance of Aviation Propulsion Systems, Construction of Helicopters, and Mechatronics
