• awarding academic degrees in the discipline of mechanical engineering, including carrying out all activities in doctoral proceedings and in procedures concerning the award or refusal of the degree of habilitated doctor,
• coordinating the thematic areas of scientific research and development work conducted within the discipline of mechanical engineering,
• adopting – after obtaining the opinion of the relevant doctoral student self-government body and in accordance with the guidelines of the Senate – draft study programmes.

• implementing the development policy for research and research-teaching staff conducting scientific activity in the discipline of mechanical engineering,
• undertaking actions aimed at achieving the highest scientific category in the discipline of mechanical engineering,
• providing opinions on candidates for employment in research and research-teaching academic positions.
